Kevin Arthur Wheatley born on March 13, 1937 in Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia Raymond, George and Ivy Sarah Ann Wheatley. Kevin was his third child. Kevin attended Marouba Union Junior Technical School. He married Edna Davis, a boy of fourteen, using the milk bar on 20 July 1954. Kevin joined the Australian Army, 12 June 1956. After basic training, was assigned to Battalion 4, Royal Regiment of Australia. He was taken the 3rd Battalion of next year.

Kevin was in the crisis Malaysia's September 1957-July 1959. In January 1964 he was promoted to sergeant, then the rank of warrant officer II (temp) in August. Kevin was a beloved and respected-com. His friends and colleagues called him "Dasher", a nickname given by his affection for rugby talent. In March 1965, Kevin was assigned to the Army Training Australia Vietnamese equipment (AATTV). On May 28, saved a girl of three years, risking his own life by running through a hail of bullets.

Kevin has been assigned to a battalion of Vietnamese in Quang Tri for about six months until he was transferred to Tra Bong, with five other officers to obtain Australia in October 1965. In a special forces base in enemy territory, the group has worked with Kevin U.S. Forces behavior in Vietnam and the soldiers execute missions Montangard search and destroy.

An operation of the Vietnamese Civil Irregular Defense Force November 13, 1966 in TraBong Valley, about 15 km from Tra Bong camp Special Forces in the province of Quang Ngai, has made contact with Viet Cong forces. Accompanying the force were Captain F. Fazekas, a senior adviser in Australia, with the central platoon, and the NCO KA Wheatley and RJ Swanton with his right hand group.

At approximately 1340 hours, Chief Warrant Wheatley reported contact with elements of the Viet Cong. The strength of the Viet Cong resistance increased until finally Warrant Officer Wheatley asked for assistance. Fazekas captain led his platoon to help, and who fought in the action area. While moving to this area, he received another radio message saying that the NCO NCO Wheatley had been Swanton shot in the chest, and called an airstrike and a helicopter to evacuate victims of EVAC.

Although that the Civilian Irregular Defense Group Medical that the NCO Swanton was dying, Dasher Wheatley refused to abandon. Kevin "Dasher" Wheatley was survived by his wife, Edna, and four children. His body was returned to Australia for burial in Pine Grove Memorial Park, Blacktown, New South Wales. His name is commemorated in New South Wales Garden of Remembrance at the War Cemetery Rookwood. In 1967, a trophy for annual competition between the Australian Services Rugby Union and Rugby Union, Sydney, opened ¬ voted on their behalf.

A sports ground in Vung Tau, Vietnam has been named after him and his quote and photo are displayed in the Hall of Heroes John F. Kennedy Center for Military Assistance, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. The United States has also awarded the Silver Star. He was appointed Knight of the Order of the Republic Vietnam, and received the Medal of the Military Cross for bravery.
