New Orleans is an exciting place to drink and dance, a city that is Mardi Gras in the heart, and now the town of Creole cuisine and jazz has built its Bowl Thurs own to add even more excitement to thank some shocking uniforms and Southern Mississippi.
The Golden Eagles had a bad start and a finish fantastic omen enlargement by winning the first bowl game of the season, a crazy, crazy, wonderful 30-27 victory over Troy back in New Orleans Bowl Sunday (12-21-08).
In the opening, the players lack the south have shown that play in all gold uniforms, defying orders to carry white shirts that designated visiting team, who were penalized by the loss of a timeout for his impertinence.
They have committed a false start, as they queued for their first offense.
Two plays later, the Trojans took the 7-0 lead on a defensive touchdown when Calvin Jorrick beaten by a hand up and ran 17 yards in the return of escape.
Now you may think that Southern Miss was great difficulty dealing with this problem, but this figure could underestimate a team I had a 5 losses last season, dropping their record to 2-6. The Eagles, then drove 4 straight wins to qualify for a bowl game.
The Troy Trojans won the title of the Sun Belt Conference and led 27-17 after touchdown Jerrel Jernigan 6-yards late in the 3rd quarter, but Southern Miss was beginning to work its magic. Quarterback Austin Davis hit a 4th patio and 2-lobed, 35-pass to tight end Jonathan Massey, with 7:20 left in regulation.
Britt Barefoot, a great name for a kicker after nail his second field goal of the game, a field goal from 46 yards with less than 3 minutes to send the game into overtime, the game of the first extension of the 2008 season bowl.
The Trojans will take place south of the 39-yard miss by Britt Barefoot on the eagles gold on the first possession of overtime, which proved sufficient for victory when Michael McGee blocked Troy 28-yard field goal to tie the game. The band Southern Miss and the fans has, then exploded with a mixture of joy and happiness.
The victory was the first bowl game as coach Larry Fedora Chief of Southern Mississippi and the Golden Eagles' 3rd New Orleans Bowl in 3 appearances.
More importantly, the victory was for the 5th consecutive Southern Miss, that the first 4 quality for the game and the last 1 cup of the School to extend winning streak to 15 consecutive seasons. Imagine, 15 seasons consecutive win, a record of very few teams could match.
Southern Miss finished the season at 7-6, Troy had to settle for a record of 8-5.
