Penn State University: From humble beginnings as an agricultural school, a world class university. The University is located in the city State College, the center County, Pennsylvania. In 1969, Coach Paterno was in its 43rd season as coach of the Nittany Lions. Paterno was injured in a sideline accident during a November 2006 Thurs Wisconsin, and induction into the Hall of Fame has been postponed until 2007.

In 1972, Coach Paterno has won the Cotton Bowl trophy, while the Lions of Nittany defeated the University of Texas by a score of 30-6. He is the all-time leader among coaches in bowl appearances and victories (23-10-1). His 69.1 winning percentage is the second fastest time among all coaches with at least 12 bowl games.

On 1 January 1983, the Penn State Nittany Lions defeated Georgia (27-23) to win their first national championship under the direction of Coach Paterno jurisprudence. And Paterno's teams have recorded five undefeated seasons, 21 finishes in Top 10 AP, 33 Top 25 finishes and two national championships.

Paterno has coached 74 All-Americans, 15 NFF National Scholar-Athletes, more than 300 prospective players NFL and seven members of the Hall of Fame of the College.

Head Coach Paterno was the member of the No. 21 Penn State Football family to be present in the Hall of Fame. He joined four coaches and 16 former players, seven of whom have been trained – John Cappalletti, Keith Dorney, Jack Ham, Ted Kwalick, Lydell Mitchell, Dennis Onkotz and Mike Reid. Former Nittany Lion coaches Dick Harlow (1915-1917), Hugo Bezdek (1918-1929), Bob Higgins (1930-1948), and Rip Engle (1950-1965) are also members of the Hall of Fame.
