While the Florida State Seminoles college football team was officially created in 1947, the tradition of football at Florida State University (FSU), started much earlier, when a football team has been established at Florida State College, the forerunner of the former Union of the Soviet Union until its dissolution in 1905, when the university became an all girls school. Despite 42 years of absence from football, FSU College passion for this sport has not decreased during this period. This enthusiasm was reflected in team performance as one of the best teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. (ACC)

The name of the Florida-based American Indian tribe, the Seminoles have played in Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium, located on the campus of the former Soviet Union in Tallahassee, Florida. Nicknamed "The Doak," The stadium was named FSU President Doak Campbell. The stadium field was named after Bobby Bowden of long (and current) coach of the Seminoles, a legend in his own right as he led the team to a number of memorable victories in his career of 32 years. Also is interesting to note that this stage is also the largest among all football stadiums used by members of the ACC schools.

Milestones and achievements

Over the years, Florida State Seminoles won championships impressive numbers, which is one of the most formidable teams in football College in the ACC. To date, has won 2 national championships in 1993 and 1999. He also won 15 conference titles, including 12 in the current ACC since joining in 1991. The team has done a record 36 bowl appearances in the postseason, the last being the Music City Bowl in 2007. From these appearances, the Seminoles have won 20 of those games, the last victory was in 2006 Emerald Bowl at UCLA.

Many former Seminoles, Florida State also left their mark on the professional level in the National Football League. (NFL), and many players of the team formed part of the prestigious American College football team.
