Facts about Football

Located in the heart of the desert provides a bustling town called Tempe, Arizona. There in the Wild West is a game of football rivalry is between the oldest in the nation, dating back before Arizona was admitted to statehood. This game is known as "Big Game", "The Duel in the Desert" or simply struggle through the territory of FIFA. Founded in 1899, this is the bitter rivalry between our beloved Sun Devils and the University of Arizona Wildcats miserable. The NCAA recognizes the Territorial Cup as the oldest trophy awarded. The first match was played on Thanksgiving Day, November 30, 1899, in the gardens of the earth Carrillo, Tucson, Arizona. Front only 300 fans in delirium, Arizona State (then called Tempe Normal School) won the cup. The trophy, and to 80 is still a mystery until today.

In 2001, the USS President Coor mandate territory Latte Cup would be shared with the University of Arizona in the last game of the season. The winner has since taken the trophy for next year until a winner is decided. After each game the winning team is presented with a replica of the Cup of the territory, is placed in the office of President of the University. What feeds this hatred? In 1937, then Arizona State Teachers College convinced 3 to transfer from Arizona players of his team. In response, Arizona ASTC refused to play again until players graduated. In 1958, Arizona State asked to become a school never make Arizona the past, rejected it. Arizona State later fought for their cause in a vote where Proposition 200 was granted university status. In 1968 "The Duel in the" victory of the desert was to appear in the Sun Bowl Arizona Coach Darrell Mudra Commission forced the Sun Bowl in Arizona to give a bowl place regardless of the outcome, threatening not to play in the Sun Bowl after the USS trampled UA 30-7. That solution resulting in the birth of the Fiesta Bowl so ASU was ground when the other hand, have their very clean bowl game. The Fiesta Bowl was one of the 4 major BCS Bowl Games to decide the national champions.

In 2001, after defeating the Sun Devils at Sun Devil Stadium, Arizona players started dancing at the command of ASU players and jokes, singing "Bear Down! "That provoked a fight at midfield. In 2008, Arizona coach Mike Stoops made the comments during a conference for signing day saying that the State Arizona became a Junior College. He said the recruits had told him that it was easier to get into Arizona State and attacked the academic requirements of ASU used in recruiting. In all current ASU and UA both must meet the requirements of a State. Then he turns to publish a statement retracting his words and apologize. This came after a highly touted running back recruit from Arizona refused to Arizona State. It is a longstanding dispute with heating and always will be.
